Nicholas Lease has just completed his degree in Theatre Arts, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in December of 2018 from East Carolina University. He obtained concentrations in both Theatre for Youth, as well as Design and Production; with a primary focus in Scenic Painting.

During his time at ECU, Nicholas has served as a charge artist, designer, actor, and director. He has worked as both an actor, and scenic designer for the Storybook Theatre Touring Productions with the School of Theatre and Dance and the Main Stage productions. In the spring of 2017, he completed a two-year Meisner training intensive class under the direction of acting professor, Gregory Funaro. In his last two and half years with the School of Theatre and Dance, he has worked as a scenic artist, and charge artist for the East Carolina University’s School of Theatre and Dance Loessin Playhouse’s Main stage productions.

This past spring, Nicholas was granted funding from the Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities Grant Board to direct, design, and produce a world premiere adaptation of Alice in Wonderland, which he toured to venues throughout Eastern North Carolina.

Nicholas has just completed the scenic design for the School of Theatre and Dance’s production of If/ Then ( music by Tom Kitt, book and lyrics by Brian Yorkey), which will open in February of 2019.
